MADRAS Day..

From a teenage Boy to a Man, this period of transformation of a person in life is crucial and critical. It all really depends on the place and people with you at this age. For me Chennai is always like a second home. A small poem for Chennai, I tried and wish to dedicate on its 377 th Birthday.   J You gave me shelter, you gave me food. You gave me education, that made me Dude. You made me cry, then cheered me well, You were the place where I wanted to dwell. You gave me friends, you gave me love. No one else, was there to show. You were always hot, and flooded sometimes. That is why I miss you all times. You are life and you are the destination, Chennai is a name, MADRAS is an emotion. Happy Madras Day...

Nostalgia....

Side by Side or Miles Apart,    dear friends are always close to the Heart...   Happy Friendship day.   This was the first friendship message which I received this morning when I opened my whatsapp.    It  could be a regular forward message on friendship day for some, but for some like me, it was really an emotional message.   I  r emember ,  during school  and college ,  we used to buy  a lot of friendship bands to tie on our friends' wrists. And it too was  categorized  with some special bands only for best friends and for  some one  new, who we want as a close  friend  : P  The special bands for n ew people would sometimes work and sometimes it would have remained with us in their memory, expecting, some or the other day, they might accept it.   Those were very wonderful days, and every friend was a special for me,  at least  specia...

Ennakke Inioru Peru Irukku, Teriyumono!!!

Ennakku Inioru Peru Irukku , 'I have Another Name!!!' is dedicated to all the people who have a kilometer of letters as their real name but are confortable to be known with their nick names as their real names are been kept in the memory of their grandfather and grand mothers because their father and mother's name were dedicated to their great grandfather and great grandmother.  Yes, Like many other Tambrahms, I was initially known as Ramakrishnan, just because my father named my brother with his grandfather name and so my mother wanted to name me so with her father, my Thatha's name. Now you would be wondering what would be wrong with the name. Being born and brought up in Maharashtra, everyone would be aware of how important does a person's surname stands for.  Now I was named Ramakrishnan, my father's name is Krishnamoorthy and my Thatha's name again Rama Iyer, there is a repetition of Ramas a...

Godhadi...

Godhadi - Traditional Quilts is normally made of waste clothes stuffed together inside old sarees. This tradition is mainly practiced in the states of Goa & Maharashtra. I’m writing this as I read in Gulfnews last week, that many of the organizations are conducting workshops in Mumbai to teach women how to patchwork a Godhadi . It came to me as a surprise and sounded funny to me as it’s a  common practice in Maharashtra and everyone can make it easily. But when I googled it I got to know many women are practicing it for lively hood as partime jobs. Women Empowerment J Even though my parents are from south, being settled in Maharashtra, my Mum is too aware of the patchworks because of our good neighbors. When I was child even I had helped my mum in making it. It was not a rocket science to make it. An advantage of making it at our home was my mum used to use even my father’s old Dhotis and Lungies. Even the owners of the Cotton factories in Tiruppur would never had imagin...

Lakshya...

Haan yehi rasta hai tera, Tune ab jaana hai Haan yehi sapna hai tera, Tune pehchaana hai Remember the lines of Lakshya Movie what Javed Aktar wrote… In life there is no desired time and dedicated moment to set a goal for your dreams. For that you will neither require special qualification nor the certain level of maturity. When you start thinking, yes this is the way where I should travel, then yes set it as your goal. The victory is yours. We might have seen many people who speak and think very positively and when there is a time of implementation of their thoughts, they will just hesitate to move further with the dreams. They would think, what will people say about them, they will think what they are doing will lead to the destination or not. Once when you have already thought a thousand times in setting your dream why do you fear to implement it. When you lose your positive approach towards your goal, there is no use of setting it. Forget it. You are the only o...

Wrapped Around My Wrist

Some txted and inquired me, about the reason for delay in my blogs, I got to know from them that many were reading my blogs.I was wondering what should be my next blog on resting my head on ma hand. I checked for the time, it was 5p.m., on my mobile by removing it from my pocket. Later I realised I had wore a wrist watch and could have easily saw it. This was not for the first time, and thought I was not the only person who would have done so. In this century we depend upon our phone for many of the things and would keep it with us 24*7 then checking time is obvious. Then why do we wear a wrist watch? Do we really require one? From childhood I had a craze for watches, and trust me I had never bought one with my money, every single watch in my collection is gifted by someone. And that gives me a thousand of memories. We all would have got that craze of collecting. My first watch was a digital one gifted by my dad which had time, date, alarm with a special feature of light. So I wen...

Crossing the Arabian Sea

It has been a week in Abu Dhabi, just thought of writing the things which come on my mind. Last week I was lying on ma bed in Mumbai at my home thinking about my tomorrows. As my visa and tickets had been already arrived I was little bit worried about my journey. My first trip abroad, leaving my family and friends there. The day arrived, I was tensed. From the time of taking taxi to the airport, I didn't react a lot. I just interacted with my family, answered to their questions and WhatsApping good bye to my friends. While we reached the airport, although we knew that none will be allowed inside except me, just tried to ask them shall I accompany them in? When the answer was 'No', I missed my heartbeat for that moment. And that was when I realised I was going to miss them, miss them a lot. A mother who prayed for my success and well doing. A father who stood as a strong support for every move and a brother who was more than a friend to me. I just stopped there. My thoughts...
